The build brief
Built S58. Complete package.
A 2026 M3 Competition xDrive built to deliver four-figure power while keeping its street manners and family-car comforts.
The target: more than 1,000 horsepower from a fully built S58, supported by the fuel system, cooling, transmission, and chassis hardware to match.
The project started with a DME unlock and MHD-based flex-fuel tuning. On E40, the original engine and factory turbos reached 721 WHP. The next stage replaced that combination with a sleeved VinceBuilt S58, a Precision Next Gen 7275 single turbo, and a complete supporting package.
A PURE Stage 2 transmission and upgraded converter handle the drivetrain side. Dual Walbro 525 pumps, Injector Dynamics 1750-series port injectors, MOTIV ReFlex+ control, and custom BMRS plumbing supply the fuel. CSF cooling and MMX differential support complete the systems around the engine.
After break-in and final calibration by Chris Kontos at MOTIV, the car recorded 676 HP and 515 lb-ft on 93 octane, then 1,162 HP and 1,003 lb-ft after adding Sunoco E85. Follow the engine work, dyno progression, and system-by-system parts guide below.
Inside the engine
Built from the clearances up.
The big turbo is easy to spot. The foundation underneath it is where Vince’s engine-building approach comes through.
A separate S58 became the basis for the build, keeping the car’s original engine out of the machining process. A successful leak-down test was only the start of the inspection.
01 / Block & rotating assembly
Darton sleeves. CP pistons. Carrillo rods.
After removing the cylinder head, Vince found pitting and marks he wanted addressed. Darton East sleeved the block. He assembled it with CP pistons, Carrillo rods and upgraded rod bolts, King coated main bearings, and ACL rod bearings coated by Calico.
02 / Cylinder head & valvetrain
HeadGames pocket port. GSC S2 cams.
HeadGames performed CNC pocket-port work, rather than a full intake/exhaust port. The GSC valvetrain package includes S2 billet camshafts along with the valves, springs, retainers, guides, and seals described by Vince.
03 / Measurement & hardware
Every clearance has a reason.
Main and rod-bearing clearances, piston-to-wall clearance, and ring gaps were checked to Vince’s specification. The script also documents ARP hardware for the girdle, oil pump, reverse-thread oil-pump bolt, and harmonic balancer, plus a limited exhaust cam gear.
04 / The power package
7275 boost. Fuel to match.
The DOCRACE single-turbo system uses a Precision Next Gen 7275. ReFlex-based port-injection control, custom fuel plumbing, and a MOTIV calibration through MHD+ support the new engine. CSF charge-air, heat-exchanger, engine-oil, and transmission cooling round out the package. Ross Racing check valves in the factory valve cover support the custom crankcase-ventilation arrangement; Vince specifies check valves rather than complete block-offs.
A detail from the assembly: Vince developed a reversible delete for the secondary oil squirters in this sleeved engine and revised the bolt recess to improve crankshaft clearance. This is a builder-specific engineering decision for this assembly, not a general recommendation for every S58.
Reliability starts before the dyno.
Vince installed the PURE Stage 2 transmission and upgraded converter before the engine swap, giving the gearbox its own break-in period. The official film records engine break-in, a head retorque, and fresh oil before final tuning. Those choices support the project’s reliability goal; long-term durability still depends on calibration, fuel, maintenance, and use.
The power progression
From 509 to four figures.
Each result belongs to a specific configuration. The early stock-engine tune and the completed single-turbo build are two different chapters.
Results from the build script and official film transcript. Final chart artwork is pending.

What changed
Original engine baselineBefore engine tuning
509 WHP
470 lb-ft
Factory engine, turbos, intake, and exhaust. PURE transmission had already been installed.
Reading the numbers: The early 509 / 721 figures are identified as wheel horsepower in the assembly script. The official film confirms 676 horsepower / 515 lb-ft on 93 octane and 1,162 horsepower / 1,003 lb-ft after adding Sunoco E85. Final-session horsepower is retained as reported HP until the chart confirms its wheel-power basis, correction standard, and measured ethanol percentage. The built-engine base-map run is not a replacement for the original factory-engine baseline.
FIRST / ESTABLISH THE CAR
Unlock. Tune. Learn.
The initial E40 stage added 212 WHP over the original 509-WHP baseline while retaining factory engine and turbo hardware.
NEXT / BUILD THE FOUNDATION
Engine and systems.
Vince’s sleeved S58, transmission, fuel system, cooling, and differential support turn the project into a complete build.
THEN / CALIBRATE THE PACKAGE
93 octane to ethanol.
Chris Kontos at MOTIV worked through the pump-gas revisions before the final ethanol session reported 1,162 HP.

Custom engine work, machining, unlisted fueling components, wheels, tires, the DME unlock, and installation are arranged separately. This adds the linked catalog selection, not a complete turnkey build.
Precision Next Gen 7275, twin-scroll manifold with the larger 1.5-inch runners, and twin Turbosmart wastegates. The linked kit selects the 1.5 Schedule 40 manifold without the optional catch can; Vince uses a separate custom ventilation arrangement.
Paired with the HFD midpipe. The film records approximately 66 lb for the upgraded exhaust, a 25-lb reduction from stock. Vince’s parts record specifies burnt tips; confirm material before selecting stainless steel or titanium.
A coordinated fuel system and a calibration specific to this engine.

USA DME unlock
The domestic unlock service is documented in Vince’s build record. Its old product listing is currently unpublished. Contact Kies for the current compatible unlock service rather than ordering from an outdated link.
MOTIV ReFlex+ controls Injector Dynamics 1750-series port injectors alongside the factory direct injection. Dual Walbro 525 in-tank pumps feed custom BMRS plumbing: -8AN supply and -6AN return. Vince built the lines and Tefzel wiring in-house; a four-port controller manages boost. Specify the complete system with Kies rather than treating the wiring harness as a complete fuel kit.

Your S58. Your brief.
Start with how you want to use the car. Kies can help coordinate the turbo, fueling, calibration, cooling, and drivetrain around that plan.
No. The final build uses Vince’s sleeved, fully built S58 with upgraded pistons, rods, bearings, cylinder-head work, and GSC valvetrain components. The 721-WHP E40 result belongs to the earlier factory-engine stage.
Can I buy this entire combination as one kit?
The parts guide links the documented catalog components. This car also uses custom machining, engine assembly, fuel-system work, and calibration. A complete build needs a vehicle-specific specification and quote.
What does “built for reliability” mean here?
It describes Vince’s goal and the attention paid to measurements, assembly, break-in, cooling, and supporting hardware. A dyno result alone does not establish long-term reliability or guarantee the same performance on another car.
Why are some figures marked as reported dyno numbers?
The official transcript confirms the final horsepower and torque values, including lb-ft units. The early results are explicitly labeled WHP in the assembly script; the final chart is still needed to confirm the final horsepower basis, correction standard, and measured ethanol percentage.
