Background
The BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models from 2021 onwards are equipped with an S58 engine featuring a Y-shaped plastic charge pipe. This pipe connects both turbos to the throttle body, channeling the boost from the turbos into the intake manifold. However, under high boost conditions, especially in tuned cars, the original plastic charge pipe struggles to handle the increased temperatures and pressure, leading to a risk of cracking and potential engine damage. This is a crucial concern for owners looking to enhance their vehicle's performance without compromising reliability.
Our Solution
To address this issue, do88 has developed a performance charge pipe system specifically for the 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models. Our charge pipe system is 15 % less restrictive than the stock version, significantly improving flow and power potential. It replaces the original, fragile plastic with robust cast aluminum Y-pipe which greatly enhancing durability and preventing costly failures. The design features optimized transitions to minimize restrictions and improve airflow. We use CNC-machined turbo and throttle adapters to guarantee a leak-free operation, and a larger throttle body quick-disconnect to match the throttle's internal diameter. For added functionality, our charge pipe includes two 1/8 NPT ports for methanol injection or boost pressure sensors, with plugs provided for those who opt not to use these features. Testing shows our charge pipe achieves a flow of 960 CFM @ 150mbar (2.17psi), offering a significant improvement over the OEM's 835 CFM, ensuring both enhanced durability and performance.
