Trying to keep those IAT’s down on your B58 powered rocket ship? You’re going to need a proper heat shield.
It’s hot in southern Utah, in our shop M240 we saw IAT’s as high as 140F. Which is why we whipped up a heat shield that is designed to actually deflect heat away from the intake without completely trapping high temps within the turbo.
After we installed the BMR heat shield we saw a significant drop in IAT’s in the same ambient temp of 110F.
After 30 minutes of normal driving we saw a max temp of 120F. Followed by a WOT 2nd gear to the top of 5th gear our peak intake air temp was 127.
