The MMX Performance BMW F-Chassis N55 Oil Sump Baffle Kit is an oil control upgrade for N55-powered F-Series cars that see track use or hard road driving. The N55's factory sump has no meaningful baffling, so under sustained cornering and braking the oil moves away from the pickup. Even a brief interruption in oil supply is enough to do serious damage, which is why a baffle is treated as an insurance policy on any hard-driven N55.
The MMX baffle fits inside the factory sump and uses specific internal baffling together with seven one-way oil control flaps. The flaps let oil pass toward the pickup and then close behind it, so oil that has been thrown to one side of the sump under load is held where it is needed instead of draining away. The result is more stable oil pressure and a much lower risk of starvation when the car is being driven properly.
What separates this kit from most of the alternatives is how it goes in. Other baffle solutions require a plate to be welded into the sump, which means removing it, having it welded, and cleaning it out afterward. The MMX baffle simply bolts into place, which makes it considerably easier and more accessible to fit, whether the work is being done at home or in a workshop.
