The MMX Performance Magnetic Oil Sump Drain Plug is a small change that pays off over the life of the engine. As an engine wears it puts microscopic ferrous particles into suspension in the oil, and those particles keep circulating, accelerating wear everywhere they go. A magnetic plug pulls them out of circulation and holds them at the bottom of the sump instead.
The magnetic tip captures and retains that debris so it is removed with the old oil at every service rather than being carried back through the bearings, camshafts and valvetrain. On the S63 in particular, where loads and temperatures are high, keeping that material out of circulation is worth doing.
The plug is a full OE replacement crafted from T6-6061 lightweight aluminum and anodized in MMX's trademark gloss black. It replaces BMW OE part number 07119905428, an M18 x 1.5 screw plug, and a set of five sealing washers is supplied with it, so the next five services are covered without a separate purchase.
