Factory Baseline

Before anything touched, Miguel's car ran on 93 octane with only a downpipe. BMW rates the M4 Competition at 503 hp at the crank — here's what it actually makes at the wheels.

Downpipe
The only mod present at the stock baseline pull. Running catless for maximum exhaust flow.

DME Unlock · Tune · Intake

The foundation every build starts with. Unlock the factory-locked DME, flash a Stage 2 93-octane tune, and free up airflow with a proper intake. This is where the S58 starts showing what it can do.

"BMW locks down the DME because they don't want you to have fun — but we want you to have fun. So we now offer a service where we can unlock these here in the United States."

Stage 2
700WHP
Flex Fuel · Cooling · Drivetrain

Adding ethanol opens up significantly more power. But going fast and staying alive are two different things — this stage adds the thermal management and drivetrain support to make 700 WHP last.

"Just by going to E40 — forty percent E85 — you're going to be very close to, if not hit, seven hundred horsepower to the wheels. We see it time and time again."

BK — from the video
↑ Includes all Stage 1 parts — DME unlock, BM3 tune (now flashed with a flex-fuel multimap), and do88 intake all carry over.
Tune
Bootmod3
Bootmod3 License
The BM3 license is reflashed here with a flex-fuel multimap tune to support ethanol operation. The same license from Stage 1 — just an updated calibration.
Required Ignition
NGK
S58 Spark Plug Bundle
One step colder, gapped for boost. Non-negotiable when running ethanol — the whole 6-pack for the S58. Prevents misfires that could cause serious engine damage at elevated power.
Cooling
do88
Transmission Cooler
71% larger cooler than factory. BK: "The more heat you have in your transmission, the more wear and tear you're going to see on your clutches — it's basically going to lead to an early death to your transmission." He's seen it happen firsthand on an X5 M.
Cooling
do88
Engine Oil Cooler
57% larger core than stock. Sits underneath the car and keeps engine oil as cool as possible. When you're adding several hundred horsepower, you have a lot more heat being generated — this preserves and protects a stock engine.
Charge Cooler
do88
S58 Intake Manifold / Charge Cooler
62% larger core. All-aluminum construction vs. the factory metal-crimped-onto-plastic design that can separate under high boost. Also has secondary fueling ports — the ones Miguel uses for port injection — plus NPT ports for water-meth or nitrous if desired. This one was powder coated to match the turbo.
Charge Pipe
do88
S58 Charge Pipe
Massive aluminum piece replacing the factory plastic charge pipe. BK: "When you start to turn up the boost, what we're seeing is inconsistencies in tuning as the rubber hoses expand and contract — adding this solves all of those problems." Also has NPT ports for methanol injection.
Drivetrain
XHP
TCU Flash — 8-Speed
BK's secret weapon: "I was stuck at 10.0, 10.0, 10.0. I flashed it with XHP and with that additional clamping force and the speed of the transmission, I was finally able to break into the nines for the first time." Removes torque limiters, faster shifts, increased clutch clamping force.
Wheels
APEX
Forged VS-5RS — Rear Set
Miguel's rear wheels. Powder coated. Forged monoblock construction keeps unsprung weight low — important when you're putting this much power through the rear axle.
Tires
Mickey Thompson
ET Street S/S — 285/35R19
DOT drag radials wrapped around the APEX VS-5RS wheels on the rear. BK: "While he has great all-seasons on the car, he's never, ever gonna hook at the track." These are what actually put Miguel's numbers on the pavement.
Tires
Continental
Extreme Contact DWS06+ 285/35 R19
All-season street rubber up front. Balances the drag radials in the rear — keeps the car drivable on the street while the Mickey Thompsons do their job out back.
Stage 3
900+WHP
Single Turbo · Full Fueling · Final Build

This is the completed car. Single turbo conversion, standalone auxiliary fuel system, port injection, full cooling stack. Miguel's final pull: 910 WHP / 782 lb-ft on E85. Stock motor.

"The benefit of a big single is you don't have to build your motor. With hybrids the power comes in so much stronger and more aggressive — if you don't build your motor and try to hit some of these numbers, you can bend your rod. The big single moves your power band down. Your torque comes in later, which is much safer for your rods."

BK — from the video
↑ Includes all Stage 1 & 2 parts — DME unlock, BM3 flex tune, do88 intake, plugs, charge pipe, trans and oil cooling, XHP TCU, wheels and tires all remain on the car.
Required Tune
Bootmod3
BM3 Rev2 with Flexfuel & Sensor Kit
Acts as a secondary DME fully integrated with the factory DME — controls port injection, flex fuel, and adds safety layers for the motor. BK: "When there's a software solution and they make a hardware component, it just makes the most sense to use them because they're going to work hand in hand together." Tuned remotely by HCP from Denmark.
Required Turbo Kit
DocRace
S58 Single Turbo Kit
Running a Precision Next Gen 7275 — capable of well over 1,000 WHP. BK: "This DocRace kit was one of the best fitting kits I've ever installed and it looks absolutely incredible." Includes catch can, all oil/coolant lines, hardware. The coolant reservoir was rerouted and painted Isle of Man Green to match the car.
Cooling
do88
Front Intercooler / Radiator
Sits in the corner of the front bumper alongside the auxiliary radiator. Part of the complete do88 cooling package — BK chose do88 across the board for their effectiveness, affordability, and the fact that they offer everything as a bundle.
Cooling
do88
Auxiliary Radiator
Driver's side of the front bumper, paired with the heat exchanger, trans cooler, and oil cooler behind the bumper. Everything fit without a single modification — BK noted this specifically during the walk-around.
Required Fueling
Precision Racewerks
G8X Standalone Aux Fuel System
The AFS 460 kit. Leaves the stock high-pressure fuel pump and stock injectors completely untouched. Adds a dedicated secondary pump whose only job is to power the six new port injectors. BK runs the same setup on his personal 1,040 WHP G80.
Required Fueling
Fuel Injector Clinic
1000cc Port Injectors
1,000cc port injectors powered entirely by the PRW secondary fuel pump — completely separate from the factory DI system. The do88 charge cooler manifold's secondary injection ports are what make this installation clean and OEM-looking.
Engine Health
Radium
S58 Oil Catch Can Kit
Included with the DocRace kit. BK: "They have this really cool bracket and it fits absolutely perfect." Mounted cleanly in the engine bay — no hacked-together mounting.
Boost Control
Turbosmart
eB2 4-Port Boost Solenoid
Precise boost control for the tuner at elevated pressure. Gives HCP the resolution to dial in a smooth, linear power curve — exactly what you saw on the 93 octane street map: no giant torque spikes, calm and collected.
Fluid
Liqui-Moly
5W30 Special Tec B FE
BMW-spec full synthetic. Installed fresh as part of the complete build — BK did a full oil service on the car during the install process. Don't skimp on fluids at this power level.
Fluid
Liqui-Moly
Pro-Line Turbo Additive
Added during the build install — specifically called out in the video install section. Reduces turbo bearing wear and helps protect the new single turbo during break-in.
Fluid
Hengst
BMW Oil Filter Kit
OEM-supplier grade filtration. Fresh oil filter as part of the build service. Hengst is a BMW OEM supplier — this is what the factory uses.
Interior
Sparco
Evo XL Carbon Seat
Paired with a Kies-exclusive Alcantara and carbon rear seat delete by Seat X for weight savings. BK: "By removing the rear seat, you're going to save over forty pounds — for every hundred pounds you save, you gain roughly a tenth of a second off your quarter mile." The seat delete looks factory with any color interior.
Required Transmission
Transmission
Stage 1+ Transmission
Handled off-camera before the final build. BK: "Regardless of what software, your transmission will start to slip around that 800 HP mark, if not even a little bit sooner." A built transmission is what makes 900 WHP reliable rather than a liability.
